Gendarmeria Abbaziale O.D.V. — Voluntary Organisation under Italian law, with non-profit status, established under D.lgs. 117/2017.
The Abbatial Gendarmerie is an official institution of the Principality of Sabourg. For reasons of territorial management, it adopts the legal form of a voluntary association under Italian law, with non-profit status, registered under tax code 90105030085.
The Association pursues, on a non-profit basis, civic, solidarity-based and socially useful purposes. Its objectives are:
The Association is chaired by His Most Reverend Highness the Prince-Abbot Archbishop of Sabourg, who is by right its Commander General. He is assisted by a Chief of Staff and a Board of Directors composed of the Directors of the three operational divisions.

The Divisions are administered by a Director, an advisory member of the Board. Each Division is regulated by distinctive rank and function insignia, from the volunteer to the Director General, as established in the internal regulations.
Any similarity and attribution of ranks and titles is strictly functional and concerns the internal organisation of the Association.
Membership of the Association is open to any adult who shares the objectives described above, regardless of origin, faith or social condition. The membership procedure is detailed on the Volunteering page.
